How to fix the Oki Toner Waste Bin Full Error on your Mac
With the Mac OS X 10.6.8 update came some problems with a large variety of OKI printers. Many OKI users have encountered the dreaded "OKI Toner Waste Bin Full" error or other errors relating to this issue. Here’s how you can fix it:
Fix 1:
- Open Finder and select Go from the top bar on your Mac. From this menu, click Go to Folder.
- A text box should now appear after clicking Go to Folder. Enter /etc/cups/ppd in this box and click Go.
- Search for ColorPrinter.ppd. After finding this file, drag it to the desktop.
- Use a text editor such as TextEdit to open ColourPrinter.ppd.
- At the very end of this .ppd file add the following line (this must be exact): *cupsSNMPSupplies: False
- Save ColorPrinter.ppd after the line has been added and move it back to the original folder: /etc/cups/ppd
- Test the printer. Delete any backed up .ppd files if printing is properly functioning.
Fix 2:
- If the first method did not help, try this instead. Before starting, verify that the latest drivers for the OKI printer is installed. Drivers can be found on the official OKI website.
- Open System Preferences (found in the menu represented by the Apple icon) and navigate to Print & Fax.
- Add a new printer by clicking the "+" button under the list of printers. Select the IP printer and use the LPD protocol.
- Type in the IP address of the OKI printer. Next, navigate through Print Using > Select Printing Software… and find the OKI printer being used. Select Okay and finish the process by clicking Add in the Add Printer window.
- Test the printer. Ensure that the IP address of the printer is correct if it still does not work properly.
The "OKI Toner Waste Bin Full" error should no longer occur when you’re trying to print. Unfortunately, this is only a temporary fix. Look out for both Apple and OKI updates for a permanent solution.
